Waakye Is a popular Ghanaian street food served as breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Waakye Is a Quintessential comfort food that’s Typically served along side waakye stew, shito, Talia/noodles, gari fortor, salad, etc. You must have a healthy setbing of this delightful Ghanaian street food Indulgence, next time you visit Ghana!
INGREDIENTS AND RECIPE:
* 3 cups black eyed beans/peas soaked in water for at least 2 hours, and rinsed.
* Add 2 L water to beans
* 1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda. Boil with beans, and water, until beans are tender
* 3 cups jasmine rice washed. Add to beans, and add more water to be at same level as entire content of pot. Season with salt to taste, and cook on medium heat, with lid on, for 15 mins. Then remove lid, and stir, apply lid again, turn heat to low, and cook till rice is soft.
*** Serve with waakye stew, shito, Talia/noodles, gari fortor, salad, etc.***
